Mi Dispiace!

In many beginner classes I hear students say mi dispiace (I am sorry) when they should be saying non mi piace (I don’t like). L’espressione mi dispiace si usa quando vogliamo scusarci con qualcuno per qualcosa: (We use this expression when we want to be forgiven by someone for something.) - Perché non sei venuta a prendermi in ufficio ieri sera? Mi Dispiace!

  • L’espressione mi dispiace si usa quando vogliamo scusarci con qualcuno per qualcosa: (We use this expression when we want to be forgiven by someone for something.)



- Perché non sei venuta a prendermi in ufficio ieri sera? Ti ho aspettato. (Why didn’t you come to pick me up at the office yesterday?  I waited for you.)

- Mi dispiace  ma ero molto stanca e ho preferito andare a casa. 

   Scusami (I apologize) se non ti ho chiamata. (I’m sorry but I was very tired and I preferred to go home. I apologize if I didn’t call you.)
